Self-host Actual Budget for private money tracking.

Actual Budget is a local-first budgeting app with a self-hosted sync server. VibeNest launches a prepared adapter so your budget data lives on your own subdomain with free SSL.

Free for 3 months Free SSL Validated public smoke Persistent volume required

Private budget sync

Keep budget files and sync state on a server you control instead of mixing finance data into a shared demo.

VibeNest-ready adapter

The adapter uses the official Actual server image, port 5006 and a persistent data volume. It passed a public URL smoke check on VibeNest.

Stateful by design

Actual stores real financial state. Keep the volume attached and add backups before relying on it for long-term records.

Deploy Actual Budget in one click

  1. 1. Launch the adapter VibeNest opens the deploy flow with the Actual Budget adapter repo and branch pre-filled.
  2. 2. Confirm hardware Use a free or paid server slot so the sync server has RAM, CPU and persistent storage.
  3. 3. Open Actual When deploy finishes, the public URL opens the Actual Budget app on your VibeNest subdomain.

Local-first budgeting with a private sync server

Actual Budget combines envelope-style budgeting with a local-first client. The browser app remains responsive while the self-hosted server synchronises budgets between your devices. That makes the deployment useful for household budgets, recurring expense planning and reviewing transactions without handing the sync layer to a generic finance SaaS.

Financial records are sensitive even when no bank connection is configured. Your own instance gives you control over the server password, storage volume, update timing and backups.

Protect the sync server

Set the server password before importing a real budget, keep the `/data` volume persistent and export important budgets periodically. Start with an empty demo file when testing. Bank-sync integrations have their own credentials and requirements; they are not created automatically by this template.

Frequently asked questions

Is Actual Budget open source? +

Yes. Actual Budget is open-source software. VibeNest launches the server through a small adapter that keeps the upstream project intact and adds deploy-safe defaults.

Why should I run my own Actual Budget instance? +

Budget data is sensitive and stateful. Your own instance keeps sync state, storage and URL under your VibeNest project instead of a shared service.

Does Actual Budget fit the free tier? +

The adapter passed a VibeNest free-tier smoke deploy. Large budgets or heavier sync usage may need a paid hardware slot.

Does it need persistent storage? +

Yes. The adapter stores Actual data on a persistent volume so budget sync data survives redeploys.

What was fixed for VibeNest? +

The adapter uses the official Actual server image on port 5006, persistent /data storage and Docker-friendly defaults. The public URL opened the real Actual Budget UI during smoke.

Deploy your private budget server

Start with a tested Actual Budget adapter, then keep sync data and backups under your own VibeNest project.
